# Best time to call across time zones

Tell it when each person is happy to talk and when they could at a push. It checks every quarter hour of the day and ranks the start times that are kindest to everyone.

## How the ranking works

Give each person two windows in their own local time. **Good time** is when they would happily talk, for example after dinner; **OK time** is when they could manage. The finder tries a start every 15 minutes across the chosen day and asks, for each person, whether the whole call fits in their good window, their OK window or neither.

Starts in a row that score the same are grouped into one range. Ranges where everyone is at least OK come first, then those where the least happy person is better off, then those with more people in their good time. Within a range, the best start is the one furthest from anyone's edge.

## Tips for far-apart groups

Across eight or more hours, a call that suits everyone often only exists at the edges of someone's day. Widen the OK time of whoever can stretch, or try a weekend day. Windows may run past midnight, so a night owl can be OK until 01:00. Change the day if a clock change is coming: the strip shows the real hours, with the change included.

## Questions

**What if no time works for everyone?**

The finder shows the three starts that come closest and says how many people would be outside their times, so you can decide who stretches this time.

**Does it remember my group?**

Yes, the people, their windows and the call length are kept in your browser's local storage on this device. Nothing is uploaded.

**Why only one day at a time?**

Clock changes and weekends make each date different, so the finder checks the day you pick. Step through the days with the arrows.
